 VISION STATEMENT

The students at Íæż½ã½ã Middle School deserve an opportunity to learn and be involved in activities that will help them develop into responsible, productive citizens. Our students deserve to have a curriculum that is standards-based, offers a variety of classes, challenges and motivates them to learn, and offers them choices about how they learn and how they are assessed. They deserve to learn the skills needed to face a competitive work force, and to be able to do so in an environment where they feel safe and are willing to take risks in order to grow academically. They deserve freedom to express their views, to receive respect from both adults and peers, to have input into the decisions that affect their futures.

All students deserve timely feedback from teachers and other adults on how well they are doing and how they could improve. They deserve to have adults who are actively involved in their education. They deserve to be recognized and praised for all of their accomplishments, both academic and non-academic. They deserve a school that is structured and has a support group of people who care about them and are willing to meet their needs and help them whenever necessary. They deserve fair and consistent rules which are enforced equitably and which hold them responsible and accountable for their behavior. They deserve access to top-notch resources, such as highly-trained teachers who are current, collaborative, and collegial, as well as current technology and real-life experiences enabling success for their future endeavors.

 MISSION STATEMENT

We exist to create a nurturing and safe environment for students wherein they have an opportunity to:

reach their full academic, social, emotional, and moral potential

  • Create lessons that allow students to think independently & creatively
  • Provide students with the opportunity to participate in hands-on learning experience that adequately prepare them for the real world
  • We commit to appreciating our student’s strengths and weaknesses and incorporating them into our lessons, teaching strategies and assessments. We will use differentiated instruction as a way to successfully reach all of our students
  • Commend students for their academic and non-academic achievements and offer alternatives when they are not being successful become life-long learners who are active, responsible citizens
  • Encourage students to be good citizens by modeling and teaching values in and out of the classroom
  • Be positive role models & treat students as well as each other, with respect
  • Create classrooms and lessons that permit students to work independently, to explore and take risks while in a supportive environment
  • Foster creativity and provide opportunities for our students to think outside the box through lessons and building-level projects value diversity and develop a sense of pride and community
  • Develop activities that foster diversity and individuality, as well as programs that have a “real-life” connection and practicality
  • We will make learning come alive for our students by offering motivating opportunities for students to express themselves and get involved in our community
  • To continue to reach out to parents and the community to make them an active part of the educational process
  • Foster an environment where students can experience and appreciate racial and ethnic diversity transfer information to challenging and unique situations
  • Create lessons that will allow students to discover information and to synthesize/apply this information to real life situations
  • Provide students with the tools necessary to be protective and successful in the community
  • Support students at the beginning of the year in creating their own goals. Continually obtain knowledge in our field of expertise through conferences and/or courses that may be available, in order to meet the ever-changing needs of our population
