The IB Diploma program educates the whole person. It provides a wide range of subject areas, along with the opportunity to explore areas of individual interest in depth. Scholars who accept the challenge of the IB Diploma become aware of the importance of developing strong organizational, goal-setting, time-management and communication skills. They develop a sense of their own personal and cultural identities within the context of a broader cultural and historical awareness. Scholars in the IB Diploma program complete courses in six subject groups, along with the core requirements of Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS), and the completion of an Extended Essay (EE).
The Theory of Knowledge course encourages and prepares scholars to think critically and helps them to understand the interdisciplinary nature of learning. Through the Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) requirement, scholars apply their knowledge to make a difference in the world. The Extended Essay helps to prepare scholars for college-level research and writing.
Upon successful completion of the program, scholars earn two diplomas - the New York State Regents Diploma and the internationally-recognized IB Diploma.
